Laboratories:

  • Concrete, Building Materials, and Soil Mechanics Laboratory
  • Hydraulics Laboratory
  • Surveying Laboratory

The Concrete, Building Materials, and Soil Mechanics Laboratory is located in Shahid Soleimani Block in the underground area. The Concrete and Building Materials Facility introduces Civil Engineering students to engineering properties and applications of commonly used construction materials in the built environment. All the testing procedures carried out in this facility follow the ASTM standards. This facility is equipped with many advanced and high-tech equipment such as:

  • Concrete compression machine,
  • Furnace to dry up materials
  • Los Angles abrasion,
  • Concrete air meter,
  • Mechanical Sieve for grading aggregates,
  • Blaine apparatus for measuring the cement specific surface area,
  • Concrete and other materials mixers,
  • Vicat apparatus for measuring the cement mortar
  • Concrete cutter equipment,

The Soil Mechanics Facility offers students the experience to understand the complexity of soil as a material. In this facility, students also learn about the precautions required and the restrictions associated with using various types of soils and their respective tests. The high-tech equipment employed in this facility include:

  • Triaxial machine,
  • Permeability apparatus,
  • Direct shear apparatus,
  • Hydrometer apparatus,
  • Liquid limit device,
  • Compact apparatus, …

The Hydraulic Laboratory is located on an area of about 100 m2 within the educational building in Jahatlou Site. The laboratory includes tanks, pipes, flume, hydraulics benches, and pump systems that keep the water circulating in a closed circuit. In the laboratory, undergraduate students conduct Open Channel Hydraulic experiments as well as flow in a venturi within the scope of Hydraulic course.

The Surveying Laboratory is also in the underground area of the Shahid Soleimani Block. It is used to store the surveying equipment and tools and to prepare for the field surveying.
