Curriculum (Industrial Engineering Department)

The Master's degree program requires the completion of 32 credit units of coursework and research, structured as follows:

  • Core Compulsory Courses: A minimum of 12 credits from the core course list for the chosen field of study.
  • Specialized Elective Courses: A maximum of 12 credits from the elective courses for the chosen field of study. This can include selected topics and one course from other Industrial Engineering fields or other engineering disciplines, subject to the approval of the student's supervisor (using the 'Cross-Track Course Registration Form') and submission of the form to the Department Head.
  • Seminar: 2 credits
  • Thesis: 6 credits

Remedial Courses: The number of these credits is determined by the university's academic department based on the relevance of the student's previous degree. Grades from remedial courses are not included in the student's semester or cumulative GPA.

Additional Regulations:

Note 1: Students in any field of study may select their specialized elective courses from the list of core compulsory courses for their own field, as specified in the curriculum file.
Note 2: Students whose previous undergraduate degree is in an unrelated field must complete up to 12 credits of remedial courses from the undergraduate curriculum of this department, typically during their first or second semester. The selection and number of remedial courses will be determined by the university's academic department based on the relevance of the student's previous degree.

Important: A minimum Cumulative GPA of 14 is required to obtain permission to defend the thesis.

 


Thesis Defense Procedure (Industrial Engineering Department)

1- Pass the "Research Methods and Thesis Development" course (First or Second Semester).

2- Select a Thesis Supervisor (First or early Second Semester) and submit the required form to the Department Head.

3- Enroll in the "Seminar" course (Second Semester).

4- Complete the Thesis Proposal Form in coordination with and signed by the supervisor and advisor(s).

  • Note 1: All sections of the proposal form must be completed and be free of grammatical errors.
  • Note 2: All parts of the proposal must be typed.
  • Note 3: The faculty name must be correctly entered in the top right section of the form.

5- Prepare a Literature Review report based on the proposal title from the IranDoc website (Link) and obtain the supervisor's approval.

6- Register the proposal on the IranDoc website (Link), prepare the report with the tracking code, and obtain the supervisor's approval.

  • Note 4: The titles on all pages of the Proposal Form (Step 4), the Literature Review report (Step 5), and the Proposal Registration report (Step 6) must be identical.

7- Coordinate the proposal defense date with the supervisor and inform the Department Head (Second Semester or Summer).

  • Note 5: The proposal defense session will be held in the presence of the supervisor and two faculty reviewers appointed by the Department Head.
  • Note 6: Upon proposal approval, the grade for the "Seminar" course will be determined by the supervisor and reviewers.
  • Note 7: The grade for "Research Methods and Thesis Development" must be officially recorded before the "Seminar" grade can be submitted.

8- Submit the signed forms and reports from Steps 4, 5, and 6 to the Department Head (Second Semester or Summer).

9- Follow up with the supervisor on the official proposal approval date.

  • Note 8: A student can defend their thesis a minimum of 3 months after the proposal is registered. If the proposal is not approved by the end of the summer, a fifth-semester extension will require tuition payment. Furthermore, if the proposal is not approved by the end of the fourth semester, an extension to a fifth semester will not be granted.

10- Conduct the research and write the thesis according to the university-approved format (Link).

11- Obtain an IranDoc similarity report for the full thesis text (Link) and get it approved by the supervisor.

12- Complete the "Request for Master's Thesis Defense" form and submit it to the Faculty's Education Office.

  • Note 9: The title on this form must be exactly identical to the approved proposal title.

13- Complete the "Thesis Submission to the Review Committee" form and submit it to the Faculty's Education Office.

  • Note 10: A minimum of 5 working days must elapse between the submission of the "Thesis Submission to the Review Committee" form to the Education Office and the scheduled defense date.

14- Coordinate the defense venue with the Faculty's Education Office.

15- Conduct the Thesis Defense.
