Four faculty members of UUT in the list of 2% highly-cited scientists in Scopus (2021)

The names of 4 faculty members of Urmia University of Technology are found in the list of the top 2% of the world's most-cited scientists of 2021, in Scopus citation database. In this list, which has been updated until August 2021 based on the amount of scientific citations to authoritative articles published by the end of 2020, the name of Dr. Vahid Zare, former Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Renewable Energies, Dr. Hashem Omrani, Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Technology Industrial, Dr. Ezzadin Bakhtavar, Associate Professor, Department of Mining Engineering, Faculty of Environment, and Dr. Sepehr Razi, Assistant Professor, Department of Optics and Laser Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Technologies, are found from Urmia University of Technology as 2% of the world's most cited scientists.

The list, which is the result of a study at Stanford University, examines 21 disciplines as major disciplines and 175 expert fields, and introduces the world's 100,000 highly-cited scientists as the top 2% of the world's most-cited scientists in 2021, based on Scopus citations in 2020.

In this list, several parameters have been examined and evaluated on the articles published in the Scopus citation database from 1960 to 2020, including the number of articles, the number of citations to articles with or without the author's self-citation, the number of single-author articles, the percentage of authors' self-citation, the ranking of scientists in specialized fields, and the introduction of the expert field of authors, which are all summarized in the table below.

It is worth mentioning that, in addition to the list of highly-cited scientists in the cumulative review of articles in the previous years, the list of highly-cited scientists in the world in 2020 is also reported, in which the name of Dr. Vahid Zare, former faculty member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Renewable Energies, is found.
