This is often due to the fact that most people do not have a proper understanding of chemical engineering. In fact, we must know that there is a huge difference between the apparent meaning and the underlying concept of the chemical engineering.

 

In fact, a chemical engineer is an engineer that develops laboratory experiments for chemists up to production on an industrial scale.
Engineering, which in addition to mastering the application of mathematical and physical sciences, should also be knowledgeable about chemistry.
Engineering that designs physical and chemical processes.
Engineering, that designs equipment for chemical, biological and environmental processes.

 Do you think that chemistry engineering is the maintenance of fine and coarse formulas and work in chemistry laboratories? For example, over time, the industry needed a mechanical engineer to know about chemical developments and processes, and could design devices in which chemical processes occur. As a result, it began to train mechanical engineers who were more than likely to be educated and know about chemical engineering. A degree in chemistry, And this group of specialists is the same chemical engineers. It has 9 fields in food industry, chemical industry, gas industry, petrochemical industry, polymer industry, and refining industry, designing of oil industry processes, exploitation of cellulose oil and chemical resources; that is an extensive academic discipline. Of course, each of the above courses has only 12 or 13 specialized units in the undergraduate degree and most of their units are in common.

Mineral Chemical Industry field:

The mineral-chemical industry's tendency to exploration and extraction of minerals returns to the mine, but mineral products are in the field of chemical engineering in chemical mineralogy. Each non-organic material production plant such as cement, gypsum, refractory glass and refractory has a process; that is, from the time the raw materials arrive at the factory, a process takes place when the product exits, the process being designed by the chemical engineer of the chemical industry. Also, the production of any mineral such as mineral fertilizers, insecticides, salts, inorganic colors and even glazes on tiles is in the work of the chemical engineer of this field.

Petrochemical industry field:

The task of petrochemical engineering is the design of machines and processes for the production of various materials, including chemical fertilizers, detergents, polymer products (raw materials of plastics, tires and synthetic fibers) and chemicals (acids, solvents) from oil and oil cuts. Specialized students' courses in this field are mostly about industrial catalysts used in reactors.

Gas industry field:

The depth of the well for gas extraction, the diameter of the gas pipe that transfers gas from the well to the refinery or from the refinery to the urban grid, how to transfer gas from the well to the refinery, how to get the CO2 gas from the material (to prevent the pipes being eaten), How to sweeten the sour gas (the primary gas extracted from the well and is urban consumable, etc.) is all in the field of the activity of a gas engineer.

Polymer industries field:

This field was one of the trends in chemical engineering until 1362, but now it is an independent field with two trends in polymer and technology and color science in universities and higher education institutes. Of course, in a limited number of universities in the country, polymer engineering is one of the major trends in chemical engineering, and students in this field are ultimately proficient in one of the polymer fields, such as the polymer forming process or the design of industrial polymer production units.

Cellulose chemical trends:

A chemistry engineer in cellulosic chemistry field specializes for turning wood to paper. For this reason, the students of this field are studying at the Technical College of Pardis 3 in Guilan, Rezvan Shahr (Choukah) province. Most of the wood is made of cellulose. Agricultural wastes such as rice peel, rice bran, and leaf scrap have significant amounts of cellulose, which are burned in many places as a disturbing element and cause environmental pollution. But today in other countries, the same waste is used to produce a fuel called ethanol, which is a very good fuel in combination with gasoline. And in this process, cellulose chemical engineers play a very important role.

 

Food industry field:

One of the applications of chemical engineering is food production and food industry sectors such as food microbiology, food chemistry and quality control of food industry. For example, in supermarkets and stores, there are more canned foods that can be prepared by preserving the principles of safety and hygiene, which requires calculations by a chemistry engineer. Also, designing machines that process the drying process, such as baby foods that are made in powder form, and the design of sterilizing, pasteurizing and freezing devices, are the responsibility of the specialists of the same field.

Refining field:

The refining field returns to the design of refineries. That is, a student of this trend learns how to design devices such as distillation towers, fluid separators, and liquids; devices that separate and recover hydrocarbon derivatives such as gasoline and diesel and heavy materials such as tar and detergents from crude oil.

The exploit of oil resources field:

Engineer of oil resources engineering is the engineer, which provides ways and methods for optimal operation of oil reservoirs. In fact, an oil utilization engineer according to the type of oil reservoir determines which one of the existing methods; gas injection, water injection, polymer injection or heat expansion can make oil easier and more economical. Today, most of our country's oil tanks are under pressure. As a result, oil is not naturally landed, and as a result, the presence of engineers from exploiting oil resources is an inevitable necessity.

The field of designing the processes of the oil industry:

The process means the function or method and way in which it can be transformed from one state to another by the help of the design engineer of the processes of the oil industry, that is, the person who designs the method of this change. Because to convert a material from the initial state to a particular state, it is necessary to design and compute devices in order to achieve the desired result. The design of industries that are directly or indirectly dependent on crude oil or refinery products or petrochemical industries relates to the chemical engineer of the design process. A chemistry engineer for designing processes in the oil industry takes specific reactions from the chemists and, considering the environmental, economic and ... conditions, finds and implements the best chemical production and purification methods.

Required abilities:

Contrary to the popular notion of people, the chemistry engineering is more associated with math as well as other engineering disciplines than chemistry science in relation to mathematical science. For this reason, a chemical engineering student should first of all be strong in mathematics and two lessons in physics and chemistry at a later stage. It might be interesting to know that chemistry students are studying only 9 units more chemistry than other engineering students. In contrast, math is very important in this field because a chemistry engineer needs a mathematical knowledge to design a reactor, a tower and a converter. Also, the student of this field should pay close attention because in chemical engineering, in addition to large-scale experiments, There is also a small scale. For example, in parsing chemistry, some of the experiments are as high as a millionth "P.P.M." Undoubtedly, in such a test, if a hot hundredth is also mistaken, the error will increase and the test fails.

Job position in Iran:

Any small or large production plant needs a chemical engineer. Because almost all new processes use chemicals. Our country also needs chemical engineers as an oil-rich country for extracting, refining, transferring oil, and also converting oil into high-value chemical products. Activities in two important sectors of the industry, namely the design of reactors and the design of machines that isolate materials, are also limited to chemical engineers. In addition to the oil and gas and petrochemical industries, all the factories, including cement, ceramic, food industry and even power plants, need a chemical engineer. A graduate of chemical engineering, a food industry specialist, can also work in food or pharmaceutical factories.
